Love it...Hate it...But we're doing it!

Homeschooling, that is...

Admittedly, we're still newbies and still in the honeymoon phase. I still believe with all my heart and with much conviction that this is where God wants us to be at this moment. I also anticipate that there will come a time that I will waver and doubt if we have made the right decision. Are we shortchanging our kids by not putting them in Catholic schools? Am I doing enough? Are they learning enough? Would they be better off enrolled in traditional schools? I am positive these questions will come and I will not have answers for myself.

For those moments, I'm glad this article has been written. It's nice to know that other mothers out there struggle as well. And it's wonderful to know that it's ok to struggle. We do not always have to have it all together all the time. In fact, it's ok to only have it all together sometimes.

"In today's world, many homeschoolers feel they must continually defend and explain their decisions. As a result, it can be tempting to sugarcoat the entire experience -- at least in public. Sometimes, though, I think we get so busy trying to sell homeschooling that we fail to acknowledge any of its shortcomings. But we don't do anyone any favors by failing to admit that homeschooling is sometimes an enormous sacrifice or by pretending it's ideal for every family.

Homeschooling is not perfect. In fact, it is an awfully hard commitment to make and to keep on making. And yet somehow I always find my reluctant, selfish self admitting that it is the right one . . . for me, for now, for one more year." (Danielle Bean)

Hi, Tej!=)

While you're in the ER with Elle, I'm exploring your blog and I just found out that you're homeschooling! I honor you!=) I have a very good friend who is also homeschooling and well, it is something that I hope to explore also.

I understand that it is an everyday struggle and that you can only go about it one day at a time. She also doesn't have any house help (a choice that she made with her husband) so on really bad days, she feels like the best thing to let go of is homeschooling...but then God would always encourage her to go on. Truly God has His ways.=)

I look forward to being inspired by your experience as a homeschooling mom and I'll keep this particular concern of yours in our prayers.

Hope Elle is okay na. God bless.
