Visas have been issued
My parents' immigrant visas have been issued and delivered! Yup, you read it right...they are now U.S. immigrants! It was a little over a year ago when I first asked them if they were seriously considering immigrating here. The moment they said "yes", I got the process started and everything was smooth sailing from then on. We did not need to hire any lawyers or anyone to help us out. We submitted the required docs. The immigration officials and I corresponded through mail. It was pretty straight-forward. I'm sure it would have taken less than a year if my parents had submitted their requirements sooner. We received notice of the needed paperwork (police clearance, birth certificates, etc.) around Feb or March when my mom was here visiting. They did not submit the docs until August. No one was really in a rush. But they processed the papers pretty quickly because by October, I received a letter from the Visa processing center informing us of my parents' scheduled interview with the American consulate in Manila. They were interviewed at the start of last week. Before the week ended, they had their visas delivered to their house. Pretty fast, huh? My parents have until May to settle their affairs in Manila so they can come here. This is going to be a major change for everyone.
1. For my parents, of course, it will be a huge change to move from one country to the other this late in their lives. I don't know how much of their stuff they will be moving here, or if they'll be shipping anything at all. Moving across international waters is no simple task, I assume. A friend who had to move from New York back to Manila said it was a huge task. I'm not sure if he hired a mover NYC-based or otherwise but still.... Aside from the physical relocation, it is also going to be a big change in lifestyle for my parents.
2. For us, my immediate family. Adding 2 more adults into our home is sure to change some family dynamics here. It will be nice to have my parents around, for sure. I am happy that my kids will have that experience with their grandparents. They have so much that they can impart to the kids. I am really more excited for the kids. I know that this can only benefit them. I don't expect any friction among us adults but I am also realistic and know that there will be some major adjustments going on.
3. For my bros who will be left behind in Manila. They are bachelors living in the city. I wonder how they are going to divide the responsibilities of running the family home. Right now, I think that's a big concern for my mom too.
Amidst all these upcoming changes, I feel some apprehension. Change is always difficult and I, for one, am not always receptive to changes. But one thing that gives me comfort and prevents anxiety from taking over is the knowledge that God has brought us to this point. This has been prayed about. God's will had been sought. This seems to be where God wants my parents to go at this time. This knowledge comforts me because I know that God will take care of even the tiniest detail. There is nothing to worry about because He has taken care of us all this time. He is not about to bail out on us. We only need to continue seeking His will and follow His plans for us.

I'm sure your parents feel the same way as you do. Change is something that I'm not that receptive too at times.
I am positive that everything will be A-OK with your parents around. I'm sure they will enjoy it too.
Good luck to your parents and I'm happy that you're going to be together soon.
Change can certainly be overwhelming, but what a wonderful blessing that your parents will be able to be with your family here. God is truly amazing and definitely orchestrating these changes according to His will. What an exciting time to look forward to. God knows our comings and goings and will most certainly look out for your bros.:o)
This is a good news, Joy! Congrats to your parents. :) And it will be a good change for your family. Yey!!
