Jesus as a toddler
I'm quite sure Jesus was a toddler too sometime in his life, right?Last Sunday, as I was struggling to keep my precocious DD2 from making too much noise during mass, I thought, "Was Jesus ever this much of a handful?" Did Mary ever have to give him "the look"? LOL. You know the "look", right? The look that every mother gives her child as a warning - "You better stop now, or else" or in Tagalog, "Makuha ka sa tingin!" hahaha.
Toddlerhood is really an age of innocent mischief, childhood precociousness that I think is very natural. So, I wonder, was Jesus a precocious toddler too?
What do you think?
More importantly, what do you think Mama Mary did? Napingot kaya si Jesus sa tenga? Did she ever let out a frustrated "Argh" after running around with the toddler Jesus? When they went to the synagogue, I wonder if they brought along the little boy? If they did, did older folks roll their eyes at them, wishing they had kept the little one at home? I wish those times were recorded in some way because I would love to know how she handled that trying time. That is if Jesus ever was a handful.
Personally, I think he maybe was similar to my DD2. DD2 is such a spirited little girl. Because of her boundless energy, she does things that sometimes hurts her siblings or pushes the adults around her to their wit's end. But it's all in innocent mischief. She's just not capable of making a sound judgement, that's all. Of course, we try our best to keep her in check. She knows that when she hurts someone (even by accident), she has to apologize. And I tell you, she is quick to say sorry. "Sowie...sowie" says my repentant little girl.
So how do you think Jesus was as a toddler? Wouldn't that be interesting to know? I bet Mama Mary has fun stories to share about that time. And I'm sure I'd enjoy hearing them! When I get to heaven, I'd probably ask her to tell me some of those stories.
