One long post
Do you find yourself saying, "I gotta blog about this..." when something happens to you or your family? I always do. You'd think that someone with so many ideas on what to blog about would actually have a more consistent blogging pattern, doncha think? Well... I do have ideas but I put off posting them that they just start piling up. So, this post will be about all those things in my mind that I wanted to blog about but did not get around to doing.{DD has chicken pox}
You read it right. DD18 mos was diagnosed with chicken pox a week ago. And in my pregnant state, that is not good news. But God is still good. I am immune to the disease since I had chicken pox when I was a teenager. Thank goodness! Her bout with chicken pox has been uneventful. Once the fever had passed, she was okay. Her pox (?) are actually drying up already. It wasn't as I recalled it really. I guess hers is milder since she's younger and she actually had shots for it. Apparently, 40% of those who get their shots still get the disease. Nothing is fool-proof, huh?
{DS starts Kindergarten}
DS5 yrs is starting Kindergarten on Monday! OMG! Can I be a mom of a kindergartener already?! Geesh! Too soon! He is really excited about it. We bought his backpack, his lunchbox - all CARS of course! We've bought his uniform. Note to self: I need to take pics of those!When I was buying his school supplies over at Target, I could not help but remember the times when I was in school and would go with my mom to Divisoria to get our own school supplies. We'd have boxes of pens & pencils, reams of paper, bundles of socks, our bags... It would be a whole day affair - very tiring but was something I looked forward to really.
Tomorrow afternoon, there is a small get-together at DS's new school for the Kindergarten class to meet their classmates. And the parents to meet each other. I don't think this is back-to-school night yet. Just a little something to get all the kindergarteners more at ease with each other. More importantly, I think it's to help ease the first day jitters of first-time parents like me. LOL! I believe that a couple of other kids from DS's preschool are going to the same kindergarten so that would be neat. I know for a fact that there are at least 2 of them since I spoke with their moms during one of the events at the preschool a couple of months ago.
{New schedule}
With a new school year about to begin, we've also embarked on a new schedule. For about 2 weeks now, I've put the kids to bed at their now regular bedtime of 7:30 pm. They've gotten used to it by now. It's been great for me since it meant that I could get more stuff done after they had gotten to bed. What's not so great is that they've been up early too, of course! Not great for me since I was still going to bed in my usual hour of 12 MN/1 AM. So, I'm almost always tired now. I guess someone needs to stick to the new schedule too!
{A snippet of a conversation}
DD3yrs: (crying) NO! Stop it. It's mine.
Me: Nag-aaway na naman kayo? (Are you fighting again?)
DS5yrs: Mom, nag-cook sya. Yummy na yummy so kinain ko. (Mom, she cooked and it was so yummy so I ate it)
DD3yrs: (still crying) No... don't eat it yet.
Me:(to DS) Anak, mag-sorry ka kasi kinain mo. Next time wag mong ubusin yung niluto nya, ok. Saka tanong mo muna sya kung pwede mong kainin yung niluluto nya. (Son, apologize. Next time, don't eat up all the food she cooked and ask her first if you can eat the food before eating it)
Me:(to DD) Magluto ka nalang ulit, ok? Tapos, bigyan mo si kuya. Masarap daw kasi yung luto mo eh.
DS5yrs: Luto ka ng 2 big bowls, ok? Hungry na hungry ako eh. (Cook 2 big bowls, ok? I'm so hungry)
DD3yrs: Ok.
(Peace reigns for a while as they start playing again)
DD3yrs: Mom, kuya not eat my food!
DS5yrs: Mainit pa eh. (It's still hot)
DD3 yrs: No, it's not.
DS5 yrs: Yes, it is!
DD3yrs: NO, IT's NOT!
DD5yrs: YES, IT IS!
(You get the picture)
Can I just remind you that this is all make-believe play?!?! Argh!!!
And that my friends is what I deal with everyday. I'm sure you mommies know what I'm talking about.
I think this is all for now. Till my next post!
