Moving on to Boy Scouts

DS went to his first Boy Scouts meeting last Wednesday. He is still technically in Webelos II, the last level of Cub Scouts. They will graduate when they are awarded the Arrow of Light during the pack's Blue & Gold banquet in March. To earn the Arrow of Light, they need to attend this month and next month's Boy Scout meetings.

The boy scouts do not meet at the school anymore. They meet at this industrial warehouse that one of the scouting parents own. It is in an industrial area of the city where there are various types of car repair shops, home building and industrial shops selling tools like band saw blades, huge tractors, etc.

DS is keen on moving on to boy scouts. He is not sure how many of the boys in his den will continue on. He says it does not seem that there will be many of them. He is interested in going all the way. He is even talking about working his way to becoming an eagle scout. He says it is a good resume builder for college. He's already thinking of college?! Whoa!

I'm glad that he is involved in scouting. He has made good friends and learned a lot. I know that as he continues on, his character will be developed and he will become a good citizen and be able to use the talents God has given him.
