Power of a Praying Wife

If you have not yet read "The Power of a Praying Wife" by Stormie Omartian, I suggest you go get yourself a copy now. If you want to support your husband, the number 1 way is to lift him up in prayer. And this is really one way that the Lord has been teaching me. Sometimes, there are some things I wish were different about DH. There are some things about him that frustrate me. But I've learned not to nag him about these things. They never amount to any good. So I lift them up. I pray to the Lord for my husband's growth. I pray that he will become the man God has envisioned him to be.
Even as I pray, sometimes I wonder if there is even anything happening at all. Sometimes, my impatience pops up. But I continue to pray, trusting that the Lord is working on him even when I do not see the changes immediately.
Sotrmie Omartian suggests in her book to pray for each and every aspect of your husband's life. She has some suggested prayers that really tackles very specific areas - like his faith, his mind, his past, his future and yes, even his wife! LOL!
Anyway, last Monday night, I had an urge to just pray for him. I opened my prayerbook and found the prayer for his faith - that he really have a desire to seek out the Lord's will and walk in God's path. I earnest said this prayer and really lifted up DH to God.
Then, a couple of nights later, he called me and told me about what had happened during their family meeting. He had called the meeting to help sort through some issues. As he was telling me about it, I could not help but feel love and pride for this man. As I listened to him, I caught a glimpse of the man I think the Lord is molding him to be. And I loved what I saw. I do not think he knows how this has affected my own faith. God is working on him. God is molding him. And he is responding.
See, prayers work. Prayers of a loving wife work.

I still can't come close to the faith that you have in God and with your husband. I do my best and I pray with all sincerity. I'm not yet giving up but there are times when I just don't think it's gonna work anymore.

I am still praying for guidance and enlightenment. Your post, as always, gives me the inspiration and the strength to still hope and pray for the best.

Thanks, Joy! *hugs*

Hi Liz!
I know you're in a tough situation but I encourage you to continue to have faith. Believe that the Lord has plans for you- read Jeremiah 29:11 - that's my favorite verse!
