On her first day of school...
DD1 cried...because she did not want to go home!!! She wanted to stay in school still! LOL!
Yup, here I was worried that DD1 might not want to go to school. She had been telling me that she was scared. But I knew she wasn't too scared. I think she was nervous but excited too - which I think is normal. So, I kept reassuring her that school was going to be fun, etc.
This morning, after dropping off DS, we went to her school. We had to wait about 40 minutes because DS has to be in school by 8 but DD1's class does not start till 8:45. Their schools are not that far from each other so even if I drive as leisurely as I can, there is still a considerable wait time. Anyhoo, while we were waiting, I was coaching DD1 on what was going to happen that morning, emphasizing that I was going to leave and come back for her when her class was over.
When we came to her classroom, she entered the room with her head down, feeling a little shy and walking slowly. Her teacher greeted her and she whispered her "Good morning." The teacher asked her to give me a hug and say "bye." She gave me a hug, a kiss and said "Bye." Just like that. No drama. I left the room but lingered a bit by the door, peeking through the windows to make sure she was fine. She was. And I left, relieved that everything went well and yet a little sad too. My little girl is growing up.
When I picked her up, she was happy to see me but did not want to go home yet. We lingered a bit but told her we really needed to get leave soon. She was a little upset but she willingly walked to the car. Once I had her on her car seat, she started crying and said she wanted to stay in school. She wanted one more watermelon, she said. It's what they had for snack and she wanted more. LOL!
*Sigh*
I've got 2 kids in school already. Weren't they just babies yesterday?
*Sigh*

LOL, good thing she enjoyed her watermelon snack. I remember my niece who was crying a lot on her first day of school. Your little girl was really brave and you prepared her well for her first day. :)
