Sonic Boom

The girls and I were downstairs. I was nursing DD3. DD2 had just taken a nap. DD1 waas watching TV. When we suddenly felt a big THUD - for want of a better word. My first thought was that there was an earthquake because I felt the house shake from the intense THUD. But then nothing else happened. I then checked everything upstairs. I thought that maybe one of the cabinets had fallen or something. Nope - nada. Everything was where it should be.
When DH came home tonight, he asked if we felt the sonic boom.
Aha! So that was it!
The cause?
The space shuttle Atlantis landed at Edwards Air Force Base in the Mojave dessert here in So. Cal. But mind you, we are nowhere near the base. It is at least 100 miles from us but the sonic boom was really strong this far away. I wonder if it was stronger for those who were nearer the base.
