Accelerated Reader
I learned from DS' school principal that he's in the accelerated reading program for 1st grade. I did not know about it. DS had told me about this computer test that they were taking for 1st grade. I assumed it was to test their skills or whatever. But the principal said that it was for the reading program. So yay for DS!He really is such an avid reader and I am so proud of him! He just devours the books I take home from the library. He is way advanced for his age. A couple of weeks ago, maybe for lack of anything better to read, he started to read the phone book! The phone book, people!!! LOL! So I thought that he might try to read the Chronicles of Narnia. I warned him though that it was going to be a long chapter book and that there were no pictures in there. He was all smiles when I gave it to him. And guess what? He's almost done with "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" and is about ready to get to the next one!

Yay for your son! Isn't it great when kids really take to reading. My son is also finishing First Grade. He's read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the first three Harry Potter books, lots of Roald Dahl, Time Warp Trio, Magic Tree House and on and on (once he checked a Thesaurus out of the school library!)
