How was your Mother's Day?
We're not a big celebrating kind of family. We just do simple, special stuff - pretty low key, pretty much how our family likes to live.So there really wasn't a big hullaballoo over mother's day. But I spent it exactly as I would like it.
We started the day by going to church. Then we had brunch at IHOP. The kids split an order of stuffed french toast combo with strawberry topping and they finished it! OMG! I remember when DH and I would just give them some of our food because they would not be able to finish a full meal, not even a kid's meal. But not anymore!
When we got home, DH went to the library because he had to study for a big exam today. The kids and I changed into more comfortable clothes and just lounged around the house. It was nice.
The whole day I got to laze off. I did my Sunday crossword puzzle and sudoku. I started reading Harvesting the Heart by Jodi Picoult. This is for the online book club at SBB that just started this month. I'm liking it so far.
Anyway, since it was Mother's day, I really did not want to cook. I didn't want to have to chop and clean up, set the table, eat then clean up. Neither did I want to eat out because for sure, the wait times are horrible. A happy compromise I found at Applebee's carside-to-go. I swear it was soooo convenient and quick too. I ordered over the phone. They took my name, of course and the color and make of the vehicle I was driving. They said the food was going to be ready in about 15-20 minutes. So, after 20 minutes, I pulled into the special parking space for carside-to-go orders. In less than 5 minutes, a server comes out with my bag of food. I pay and back home we went. It was that easy. And when we got home, the food was still warm. And we got to enjoy our meal. After eating, we just threw everything into the trash. No clean-up necessary for me! :D
To cap off my day, I watched the first part of the season finale of Grey's Anatomy. What a perfect way to end my day. OMG! It was soooo exciting. The second part is showing tonight and I can't wait to see it.
So, there... that was how I spent my special day. Yes, it was special. I got to spend it with my family doing stuff I liked without thinking of any chores that needed to be done. :D Truly special!
