God's mercy and forgiveness

I read this yesterday and was struck by how true it is. I contemplated on writing a full-blown post on my reflection on it but decided against it. It was turning out to be far more serious than I want to include in my blog.

A man told Phillip Yancey of his plans of leaving his wife and family to run off with a younger woman. He tried to justify himself and said to the author, “Won’t God forgive me anyway if I repent later?”

The brilliant author replied, “God will indeed grant you his forgiveness. But friend, when that day comes, will you still want that forgiveness?”
