Meltdown
My fridge is slowly conking out on me!!! Ugh!I first noticed it a few weeks back. My freezer has a water and ice dispenser and I found water dripping from the ice tray. It was a slow drip so I thought there might be a leak in the water supply hose. But then I noticed too that the top shelf of the freezer was not as cold as the rest of the freezer. After some more investigating, I concluded that the ice cubes in the ice tray were melting thus causing the drips! Ok, so I empty the ice tray. Problem 1 solved. I turned down the temp of the freezer a notch. It seemed to solve the problem.
Then yesterday, it started again. Same problem! Did the steps I took the last time. The top shelf was still not getting colder. And now the top shelf of my fridge is losing cool too! It's almost like room temp up there. Although the bottom shelf is cold. I asked DH to check on it and asked him whether I should call a repairman already. Something IS wrong, obviously! He did not get to check on it yesterday because he came home and was just wiped out. He was on call the day before and was swamped with patients! Anyhoo, this morning, I checked on my fickle-minded fridge and voila! it was cold again! Not yet as cold as before but definitely not room temp or anything. Man! I don't know what's wrong with this fridge anymore.
So, what should I do? Get a repairman already? Or wait and see if it conks out again before calling someone to service it?

refrigerators have thermostats which control how much coolant is being used. Sounds like you may need a new thermostat..........
Oooh...thanks for the tip! I'll tell DH to check on it!
