A Busy Week
I've had a pretty busy week...On Monday, DS celebrated his 5th birthday. Although we decided to celebrate only with family at home, it still meant that I had to prepare. We just bought pancit(a Filipino noodle dish) and I made fried chicken wings. And of course, we had cake. DH's sister (who happens to be DS's godmother) and brother came over to celebrate with us. It was a low-key celeb but I think DS had fun anyway.
On Tuesday, DS celebrated his birthday with his class. I bought each child in his class this Betty Crocker mix. It became a cooking activity for the class too. Then they had it for snack. DS' teacher was telling me that the children were all asking when they could eat their cake. (I left after the cooking activity and came back for snack time.) During snack, the kids were all quiet, busy eating their cake. And the teachers were saying, "The cake's a hit! They're all so quiet!" Hahahaha... It was a really special birthday celebration for DS. And he felt quite special! :)

On Thursday, I had my MOPS meeting. An amazing woman, Jana Alayra came to sing with the kids and then later gave her testimony to us moms. What a powerful story she has... and beautiful songs too! There was not a dry eye in the room after. And as I was listening to her, I was actually thinking to myself that she got me... she really understands what I am going through as a mom. She spoke about not being prepared for motherhood... and she could have been talking about me! I was totally unprepared for motherhood too. She shared about her childhood, how everything seemed organized, etc and wonders how her mom had done it all with a sense of calm and peace while she is totally unorganized. I'm right there with her too! Geez... it was like this woman was reading my mind... then I realized that it was God who was reading my mind. And He brought me there that morning so I could listen to this woman testify. And it was probably God's way of comforting me and assuring me of His love and presence. And I came home comforted and assured.
That evening, I went out to dinner with the other moms from my MOPS table. It was a fun ladies night. It was the first time I had gone out since having the baby almost a year ago... the first night I went out, just me, no kids, no husband, just me! Another blessing from the Lord!
Then last night, we had our Men's and Women's group meeting. This is a group of husbands and wives from our Catholic community. We meet about 2x a month to fellowship and share and study. There are 4 couples in our group. Of course, we take along our kids and so they get to play with each other too. So, it's a fun fellowhip time for the kids too.
I've really had a busy week. And this is not typical at all!
Oh, and I forgot to say that I started my personal training sessions at the gym on yesterday morning too! Woohoo! There were 6 free sessions that came with my membership when I signed up in August. I'm just using them now. The first session was great. The hour really went by quickly. I'm kinda sore now but not too much. Just sore enough to know that my body hadn't used these muscles in a while and so I'm paying for it! Hahaha... I was weighed and measured too and was just horrified at my measurements. Safe to say that I won't share those details here...Will let you know though if and when inches start to come off. Can't wait!
This has been a pretty long post for a pretty busy week of a pretty young mom! :-)
