Why Blog?
Today is my first time with blogging - this internet phenom. Why did I decide to blog? Goodness knows I have enough in my hands - 2 kids and another one on the way.1. To archive the events in our lives.
With things happening around me constantly, I feel that there may be moments I might forget. Moments that will bring forth memories. I could try scrapbooking to archive memories & photos. But with a more convenient avenue, I think I prefer this. Besides, scrapbooking can get really expensive. Also, I think I'm better at this. Simply typing down my thoughts and uploading pictures is not much work. I just hope I find the time for it.
2. To update friends and families
We live in a foreign land. We are native-born Filipinos. Although we've formed friendships here, most of those dear to us still reside in our homeland, Philippines. I'd like to think that they are interested in what is happening in our lives here. Well, at least I know my own family would be interested in reading about my children.
3. As a hobby
Or should I say, as an escape tool. Hahaha... I have a lot of things to do but writing my thoughts may help ease the craziness I feel sometimes. Yup, being with the kids 24/7 makes me crave human adult interaction. Most of the time, the burden of listening to my rantings fall on my poor husband. Maybe, with this blogging "experiment" of mine, I can type in my thoughts and feelings and pretend I am actually interacting with some human. I'm not even sure if people will read this. But for the couple of hours I've been on this thing, it actually feels good. I can see myself getting hooked on this once I fnd my way around.
4. To hone my writing skills?
Wala lang. This may not be the best way to hone my writing skills. My English blogs have been interspersed with Tagalog phrases here and there. I suspect that the more I write, more Tagalog will be written in. Grammatically speaking, I have not been following the rules in sentence formation, punctuation, etc. I noticed I've got a lot of run-on sentences, etc. I'm crediting it all to creative liberty! This is my style! Hahaha... So much for my English professors! My Tatay has encouraged me to start something like this actually. I think he thinks I've got some talent for it. Maybe this is my way of exploring that. I may not get myself published. But at least, I'll have something close to it, right?
So far, that's all I can think of.
I'm still finding my way around this blogging thing. As in wala akong alam gawin except post. How do I post pics? I'll find that out sooner or later. I've realized I learn quickly or so we'll see.
Today, I think is the best time to explore this. On Christmas day, you say? Well, we're staying home today. Dex is actually on duty in the hospital. He won't be home till tonight. The kids are busy playing with their new toys. That should keep them occupied for a while. The house is pretty much clean since I cleaned yesterday to prepare for Noche Buena. There's plenty of left-overs in the fridge for dinner so I don't have to worry about what to cook. It will be pretty much a laid-back day for us. I've got the whole afternoon to explore!
